Vocational
Evaluation is a comprehensive process of evaluating
an individual's physical, mental, emotional and social abilities,
limitations and work tolerances in order to assess their current
and future employment potential and adjustment needs. The general
goal of the evaluation process is to create a vocational profile
to assist individuals with knowledge of their vocational interest,
assets, and liabilities. The assessment is comprised of activities
that focus on interest, aptitudes and abilities, which is used
in vocational planning.
Work Adjustment is a treatment/training process
utilizing individual and group work related activities to assist
individuals to understand the demands and expectations of work;
to develop or modify attitudes, personal characteristics and work
behaviors; and to assist individuals toward their goal of self-support
and self-sufficiency. This program is designed to enable an individual
to progress toward competitive employment.
When the individual has completed the work adjustment goals identified
as barriers to employment, the individual is referred to the Work
Adjustment Job Coach to assist the individual with job development,
job training and job placement. The primary focus of the job coach
is to assist the individual with obtaining employment which matches
the interest and abilities of the individual for which they have
the most potential for success.
Supported Employment assists individuals who
are severely disabled in obtaining and maintaining paid employment
in integrated settings. The individual must require intensive training
and ongoing long-term support to obtain and maintain employment
that is not time limited. Vocational Solutions contracts for these
services through the NC
Division of Employment Training Programs Services.
